About Us
The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) Peer Support Team is a group of dedicated professionals trained specifically to provide emotional and psychological assistance to their colleagues. We understand the unique challenges faced by first responders and are committed to fostering a culture of health and wellness within our department.
What We Do
Our team facilitates access to mental health resources, offers confidential listening, and provides critical incident stress management. We bridge the gap between personnel and professional clinical services, ensuring that support is always within reach and delivered with the empathy only a peer can provide.
Peer Support at MDFR
- Pre-Crisis: Proactive outreach, education, and resilience training to prepare our personnel for the demands of the job before incidents occur.
- Crisis Response: Immediate support and interventions following a critical incident to help stabilize and assist those affected.
- Post-Crisis: Long-term follow-up and continued care to ensure ongoing wellness and successful reintegration into service.
Who We Serve
We serve all Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters, professional staff, cadets, retirees, and their immediate families. Our doors are open to every member of the MDFR family, providing a safe harbor during life's storms.
