For many, joining MDFR is a continuation of their commitment to serve. MDFR recognizes that experience and provides hiring preference to qualifying U.S. military veterans.

MDFR supports veterans as they transition from military service into a career in fire rescue. Veterans can continue to build on their military experience while accessing resources that support professional and personal well-being.
Military OneSource provides eligible service members and military families with free, confidential support, including counseling, financial assistance, relationship support and relocation resources.
Supporting the Families Behind the Badge
Supporting our veterans also means supporting the families who stand behind them. Military OneSource and the American Red Cross provide resources for military-connected families facing transitions, emergencies, financial challenges and other life changes.
